FAQ

  • What is a "Meet & Greet"?

A Meet & Greet Session is a relaxed visit where you can tour the studio, meet our teachers, and learn how our program works.

It’s a chance to see the space, ask questions, and get a feel for whether our approach is the right fit for your student—no pressure, just a friendly introduction.

  • Do we need a piano at home?

    Yes!

Think of it like hockey—you wouldn’t send your child to practice without skates. The same goes for piano.

We strongly recommend that students have access to a piano or a full-size keyboard with 88 weighted keys. Daily practice is key to steady progress, and having an instrument at home makes it easy for students to build skills and confidence.

Not sure what keyboard to buy? We provide a helpful buying guide to help families choose a quality instrument that fits their needs.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

We offer flexible rescheduling! If you cancel a lesson through our online portal with advance notice, you’ll receive a make-up credit. You can then use this credit to book another available lesson time that fits your student’s level.

  • How long should we try lessons before deciding if it’s a good fit?

Learning an instrument is a process, and progress often happens gradually. We encourage families to commit to at least one full year of lessons before evaluating fit. This allows time for skills to develop, confidence to grow, and for students to experience both the challenges and rewards of learning music. Many students have breakthroughs at different points—consistency over time is key.

  • What about at-home piano apps like Simply Piano? How is Farmhouse different?

We love technology, and we use it as part of our curriculum! At-home piano apps can be a fun way to spark interest and reinforce practice, so we’re all for tools that keep students engaged.

But true musical growth goes beyond following a free app or YouTube lessons. At Farmhouse, students learn from experienced instructors who provide personalized guidance, support proper technique, and give real-time feedback.

Our structured curriculum and welcoming community help students to quickly build skills, confidence, and a lasting love for music—something an app alone can’t deliver.
