Matthew Lech

Matthew discovered his love for music in kindergarten after being inspired by a teacher who sang and played guitar. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance and a Master’s degree in the same field, and has performed in settings ranging from solo recitals and chamber ensembles to musical theater and jazz big band.
With over a decade of experience teaching both private and group lessons, Matthew brings a supportive, structured approach to every student. He’s passionate about helping musicians of all ages build confidence, strong fundamentals, and a genuine love for music.
Nessa Hu
Piano Instructor

Nessa is a pianist and dedicated piano instructor currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Collaborative Piano at the University of Minnesota. She brings enthusiasm, encouragement, and a love of music to every lesson, helping students build strong technique, musical confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the piano.
Whether working with beginners or experienced musicians, Nessa creates a supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning, growing, and expressing themselves through music. She enjoys making lessons engaging, celebrating each student's progress, and inspiring a love of music that lasts well beyond the lesson.

Evie Bailey
Evie brings both creativity and organization to Farmhouse as a piano instructor and administrative assistant. A self-proclaimed organization enthusiast, she loves helping keep the studio running smoothly while supporting students in their musical growth. Outside of lessons, you’ll often find her playing classical piano (currently loving Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin), spending time with friends and family, or wake surfing on Lake Minnetonka. Evie is passionate about creating a welcoming, encouraging environment for every student.

Krysten Tomlinson

Krysten holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Southern Utah University and a Master of Arts in Teacher Education from the University of St. Thomas.
She loves working with students of all ages and backgrounds, bringing warmth and creativity to every lesson. Krysten enjoys incorporating games and student interests to make learning fun, engaging, and personalized. She’s passionate about helping each student build confidence while developing strong musical foundations.
John Kuntz
Piano Instructor

John is a passionate musician and educator dedicated to cultivating lifelong musical curiosity in every student. His goal is to empower learners with strong piano fundamentals and baseline musical literacy, helping build confidence from the very first lesson.
A composer at heart, John also has an extensive piano background, performing works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Claude Debussy. He’s an active chorister and enjoys playing saxophone and accordion, bringing a wide-ranging musical perspective to the studio.
Dan Edgren

Dan is a seasoned educator, performer, and church musician who brings patience, creativity, and a deep love of music to every lesson. Raised on a dairy farm (yes, he once showed Holstein cows at fairs!), he carries that same work ethic into his teaching.
He lives with his wife, Julie, whom he met while directing a church choir she sang in. Outside of music, Dan enjoys movies, theater, dog walks, and good books, but nothing beats time with his daughter, son-in-law, and three grandkids.

Sonja is the founder of Farmhouse Music Studio, which began in 2014 in a 150-year-old farmhouse near Loretto, Minnesota. With decades of teaching experience, she built the studio on a foundation of high-quality instruction and a genuine love for music education. In 2020, she expanded into a commercial space in Long Lake, Minnesota, leading to rapid growth and a thriving teaching team. By 2023, the studio had grown enough to open a second location in Lakeville, Minnesota.
Sonja remains deeply committed to creating a welcoming, inspiring environment where students of all ages can grow confidently as musicians.
Joey Bellinger

Joey Bellinger has been playing piano since he was eight years old and has taken college-level music and piano courses that helped him grow as both a player and a teacher. He loves all kinds of music — from Debussy to jazz — and enjoys sharing that variety with his students. His goal is to help each child feel confident, creative, and excited about learning. Seeing students light up as they discover their love for music is his favorite part of every lesson.

Workshops are primarily 5-day courses presented in the summer, but could also apply to weekends and school holidays.
